Default 2nd Battery Mod, Part 2: Connect It Up! Picts Galore!

Go here for 2nd Battery Mod, Part 1: "Where to put it?"

For those of you who've been asking me to finish this Mod - I finally did.

This also shows how I wired up the inverter for those who have asked.

The mess at the start (battery already secured)

Drilling some holes
(battery ground, Inverter Ground, 120 out)

Threading the 120 cable in. Remember to thread it through the conduit nut and washer

Pass side plastic removed for access

Used 6 gauge cable to thread the 120 through the flexy conduit.

Success threading the cable through

Attach to bumper plastic. At this point I waterproofed with silicone sealer (both sides)

Wired up the GFI outlet

More silicone

Attached faceplate with rubber gasket

OK that part's done

Now to secure the other end. View from underneath

Screw on nut with washer

Ready to start hooking stuff up

Everything connected

All put back

Easy access remote switch for the inverter

Proof it works

2nd battery switch - (4) positions; 1 (front batt), 2 (rear batt), 1+2 (both batts), 0 (no batts). Even though it had only a partial charge it started up on the rear battery alone

Im really happy how this turned out!

EDIT: 01/09/10

Ok finality to this MOD

I found a place to put this:

Here -->

I was inspired by Rev's How to - Thanks Rev!!

Not wired up yet gotta run and get ready to take the family to see Avatar in 3D

Late!

Here's a drawing of the wiring:

sweet work Oz! how does the second battery charge? Do you leave the switch on 1 + 2 to charge both batts?
